I understand the frustration...and I agree, I'd rather have a Bren Ten in the grand scheme of things...and it did have an "odd" feel to it to have it named the Fortis when it was first introduced as such, but again, I'd rather have the pistol and be able to enjoy it instead of having it have a particular name. I hope that since they are taking their time with things, even the things of minor significance, maybe they'll fix that funky...

I agree with Bruce on this one. I have had firsthand conversations with Eric regarding the copyright issues. No, that is not the only hold-up, so I suppose I was posting in a somewhat speculative fashion..... Although I'd love to see the Fortis hit the market with ANY name on the slide, I'd still prefer it say BREN TEN...
Kimber, Springfield, Charles Daly, heck, even Taurus all call their renditions a 1911 pistol. To me, this gun is a BREN TEN and to call it...

Two months from last up-date so this should have been the "update day". So much excitement! All the pictures! To think this is what it is like to get a "real time look into the development of a pistol".

I hope I don't have to go through this again.

Does anyone have actual, verifiable information on the copyright issue surrounding the Bren Ten/Fortis designation and it's hypothetical effect on the actual release of the pistol by Vltor? From Vltor/Eric, etc..or is this another exercise at highly-speculative ad-naseum rumor-pot-stirring out of sheer boredom and frustration?

I'm with Gary, Ted and Nordic on this one..... If I could get a slick slide version (no engraving) I'd be all over one in a heartbeat. I have a local shop that can handle the engraving if I wanted the BREN TEN markings added. I had even suggested this to Eric last year when I was made aware of the copyright issues. Somehow I don't think this is the only hold-up though.....But I remain patient and hopeful.

I can see both advantages and disadvantages to using the Bren Ten name. Some may have bad memories of it and that could hurt some sales. Those of us who are "in the know" about the gun will be delighted to see it back in production and the name won't matter. I think they should get them out as soon as possible before the current socialist administration puts any more restrictions on gun sales regardless of what name they have to put on them. I want one even if there is no...

If this is the hold up, I agree. Sell it as the Fortis now, and down the road rename it the Bren when and if that gets worked out. Who knows, those who end up with a "Fortis" may have a collectible!

Vltor (if still doing so) should not bother about Bren Ten trademarks (at this time). It is the lineage that counts. I am sure all of us could care less what name is on the slide. It's time to get the production guns out; even if the slide is bare, non-marked, I could care less. Vltor should stop sitting on a pile of fertilizer waiting for the grass to grow on this one.

We (in the know, at whatever degree of speciality) know where this design came from.

I would just be happy to have one in hand this year. While using the name "Bren Ten" would be nice, I could certainly own and shoot a Fortis just as happily. What's that saying, "A Rose would be a Rose by any other name".
